The Symphony of German and Law: A Successful Face-to-Face Event with Foreign-related Legal Practitioners
On the afternoon of March 12, 2025, the event "The Symphony of German and Law: A Face-to-Face Meeting with Foreign-related Legal Practitioners," hosted by the School of Foreign Languages at East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL), was successfully held in the Mingfa Building. The event was presided over by Nie Hua, Associate Professor and Head of the German Department at ECUPL's School of Foreign Languages. It featured two distinguished speakers: Mr. Du Junfei, the tax consulting manager at M.Y. & Associates Ltd., and Mr. Wang Sai, a partner at Shanghai Shaohe Law Firm.
The event began at 14:30 with self-introductions and sharing of learning experiences by the two speakers. Mr. Du Junfei holds a double master's degree in law from Nanjing University and the University of Göttingen in Germany. He is proficient in Chinese, English, and German and currently specializes in legal and tax consulting for Sino-German bilateral investments. Mr. Wang Sai, also a graduate of Nanjing University and the University of Göttingen and proficient in Chinese, English, and German, focuses on providing litigation and arbitration consulting services in the fields of corporate law, trade, and distribution law for German and European clients investing in China. Their rich experiences and cross-cultural backgrounds provided valuable inspiration to the audience.
Subsequently, Mr. Wang Sai elaborated on the daily work of a lawyer and the employment prospects in the legal industry. Drawing from his own experience, he analyzed the current status and future development trends of foreign-related legal services, offering practical career planning advice to students aspiring to enter the legal profession.
Mr. Du Junfei then shared his language learning experience and the employment situation in the consulting industry. He emphasized the importance of language skills in foreign-related legal and consulting work and, based on his personal experience, shared insights on how to efficiently learn foreign languages and leverage language advantages in the workplace.
In the fourth part of the event, the two speakers jointly discussed the challenges and coping strategies for language learners in the AI era. They pointed out that with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, language learners need to continuously enhance their cross-cultural communication skills and professional competence to meet future career challenges. The speakers also offered unique perspectives on how to use AI tools to improve learning efficiency and work quality.
Finally, during the open discussion session, the audience actively posed questions, engaging in a lively interaction with the speakers. The speakers patiently answered questions related to language learning, career development, and the application of AI technology.
